Jinko ESS, a global leader in energy storage, today announced that it has secured two 5 MWh grid-scale energy storage projects in Italy, marking its official entry into the Italian large-scale storage market. The projects will deliver Jinko ESS’s Blue Whale G2 5 MWh liquid-cooled container systems in October 2025 and March 2026 respectively, providing frequency regulation support and renewable energy integration services for Italy’s national grid, accelerating the country’s goal of achieving 45% renewable energy by 2030.
To address the 40°C high temperatures in southern Italy and the -5°C low temperatures in the north, the Jinko ESS Blue Whale G2 system employs intelligent liquid-cooling technology to achieve precise temperature control across all climates, ensuring that the temperature difference between cells is maintained within ±2.5°C. With multi-layer protection, the system guarantees extreme safety under harsh weather conditions. Its 94% system round-trip efficiency and 15% reduction in auxiliary power consumption maximise the return on investment for the system.
Roberto Murgioni, General Manager of Jinko ESS Europe, emphasised: “The signing of these two projects validates the effectiveness of our ‘Southern European Local Service Strategy’. Following projects in Greece, Germany and the United Kingdom, the breakthrough in the Italian market further completes our Mediterranean regional footprint, and Jinko ESS will continue to empower Italy in its clean energy transition.”
